5 (Minutes, Ingredients,Flavours) Drop Donuts/ Doughnuts Holes/ Munchkins/ Bits/Puff-Puff/ डोनट्स

Today I decided to decode donuts making process. Well whatever method is I’m going to share is very quick and easy to make.

So first we will understand what donuts are......

Facts:

  • These are also called as donut holes , puff -puff, munchkins, bits.
  • National Doughnut Day is celebrated in USA  on first Friday of June each year.
  • There are different types of donuts found in all over the world like balushahi , Gulgule, Gulab Jamun ,jalebi etc in India.
  • As same like these examples ,every  country has their own style of donuts, obviously name is different but style is somehow similar.
  • As per Per capita , Canadians consume the most doughnuts, and Canada has the most doughnut stores per capita.
  • It is assume that present day donuts were brought to New York by Dutch settlers. 


There are two styles of doughnuts making process 

1. Cake style

2. Yeast style 

I’m going to share the recipe about cake style

So let’s get started

Ingredients:

For Donuts-


All Purpose Flour : 2 cup

Baking powder: 2 teaspoon 

Salt: 1/4 teaspoon 

Yogurt: 2 1/2 cup

Milk: 2 tablespoon 



For Flavour coating:


Melted Butter

Powdered sugar 

Milk

Vanilla essence 

Cardamom powder 

Cocoa powder 

Shredded coconut 


Other Ingredients and Tools:


Oil for frying 

Piping bag or zip lock  bag

Piping tip (optional)

Scissor 


Instructions:


Donuts Making:

Take All purpose flour, baking powder, salt , yogurt and milk in mixing bowl.

Mix well and prepare a running consistency batter.

Heat up oil in frying pan.

Transfer to piping bag.

Cut at the tip of piping bag if you don’t have piping tip.

Now check the temperature of oil.

It should be medium hot.

Now press down batter and whatever size of donuts you need, cut at the edge as shown in video.

Fry till golden brown.

Remove in paper towel .

Now repeat the same process.


Coating the flavours:


Milk Glaze-

Add powdered sugar , melted butter and milk in bowl.

Give a good mix.

Dip donuts , coat with mixture.

Remove in cooling rack to drain extra mixture.


Vanilla flavoured-

Repeat the process but this time add some drops of vanilla in same leftover mixture.

Give a good mix and dip some donuts into,

Remove on cooling rack to drain extra mixture.


Chocolate glazed-

Now add Cocoa powder in same leftover, dip donuts and remove on cooling rack.

You can increase cocoa powder amount as per your need.

Mix sugar , cocoa powder, milk and melted butter in a mixing bowl.

Dip donuts in this dense chocolate mixture , coat it well and remove on cooling rack.


Cardamom and Coconut flavoured-

Now time for “Queen of Spices”  yes ,you got it right it’s Cardamom.

Add melted butter, cardamom powder , shredded coconut ( you can also add coconut oil as well), milk, powdered sugar, mix well

Dip donuts and give a good mix.

Remove on cooling rack.


Instant Drop Donuts are ready to melt into your mouth.


Pro Tips:

  1. Try to consume these donuts within a day.
  2. The amount base ingredients in coating mixture can be increase or decrease.
  3. Always try to use very little amount of warm milk or you can skip milk part during coating.
  4. Instead of melted butter and warm milk  ,coconut oil and warm water can also be used respectively .
  5. Donuts can be consumed dry, after tossing in powdered sugar .
  6. I haven’t used piping tip but you can use any round piping tip( whatever size of donuts, you needed)
  7. If you don’t have piping or ziplock bag, no worries then use milk bag or any other thick plastic bag as per your convenience.
  8. The coating process should be very quick .
  9. If you don’t have cooling rack, use any utensil stand or net like structure to drain extra mixture.
